Principal's Message

Dear YECA Families,

Welcome to York Early College Academy!  Established in 2006 as part of a nationwide project originally sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, we are an early college school serving grades 6-12 with a partnership with CUNY York College.  At York Early College Academy, we provide a unique educational experience that blends rigorous academic standards with the opportunity to earn college credits, preparing our students for success in their future endeavors!

As Principal of York Early College Academy, my journey here started in 2009 as a Special Education Teacher developing the school’s Special Education program to best support students with IEPs.  In 2016, I became the Assistant Principal of Special Education and Operations. It is now 16 years later and I am the proud principal of York Early College Academy!  It is my honor and privilege to serve the school community to ensure that our students have access to quality instruction, experience a sense of belonging, and are provided with the social emotional strategies necessary to thrive in school and beyond.

As we embark on this journey together, I encourage you to take full advantage of the resources and opportunities available at our school.  From our accelerated middle school and high school coursework and college courses at York College to extracurricular activities and    support services, we aim to meet the diverse needs and aspirations of all our students.

Communication and collaboration between school and home are vital to student success.  I invite you to stay informed by reading our weekly email, attending PTA meetings, coming to parent-student-teacher conferences, and getting involved in school events. Together, we will make sure that your scholar is fully supported so they can reach their full potential!

Thank you for choosing York Early College Academy.  I look forward to a successful and rewarding school year with you!

Warm regards,

Principal Deborah Krempa
